Fair-Use Policy

Last updated: May 6, 2026

Why we have a fair-use policy

Every AI message Outpost handles costs us real money — model inference, voice transcription, and storage. Flat-rate pricing only works if a small number of heavy users do not absorb the budget that subsidises everyone else. Fair-use limits are the contract that lets us keep prices low and predictable for the 95%+ of users with normal patterns.

What counts

A “message” is one user-initiated turn directed at your AI assistant — a chat send, a WhatsApp inbound message, or a voice command after transcription. Background work that the platform performs on your behalf (morning briefings, agent reports, embeddings, scheduled summaries) is not charged against your message budget; it is metered separately as AI credits.

Per-plan limits

LimitSolo ($7)Team ($55, 10 seats)
Messages per billing period2501,500 + 100 per extra seat
Per-message length cap4,000 chars6,000 chars
Voice minutes per period30 min300 min + 20 per extra seat
Per-user daily messages5050

What happens as you approach a cap

  1. At 80% we surface a banner in the app and the billing dashboard so you can plan ahead.
  2. At 100% AI replies pause for that surface (chat / WhatsApp / voice). The rest of Outpost — projects, tasks, integrations, dashboards — keeps working.
  3. At reset (the start of your next billing period) limits refresh automatically. You do not need to do anything.

If you need more

If you regularly bump against the cap, that is a signal to upgrade, add a seat, or reach out — we can usually work something out. Email us at hello@outpost.ai with your workspace details.

Abuse

We reserve the right to throttle or suspend accounts engaged in automated abuse, prompt-stuffing to evade the per-message length cap, or attempts to circumvent fair-use limits by other means.

Changes

We may revise these limits as our cost structure evolves. We will give at least 14 days’ notice before lowering any cap that would affect your current usage.
